  9. OVERVIEW:
  10. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  11.      The TurleyCode BBS Rating System, (TurleyCode, for short)
  12.      was developed for a quick identification of Electronic
  13.      Bulletin Board Systems by a simple Alpha-Numeric means.  The
  14.      BBS's "TurleyCode" would give the potential caller a brief
  15.      description of what they will find on that BBS.  Even
  16.      though, the TurleyCode BBS Rating System is copyrighted, all
  17.      may use it without payment.  All that is asked is that it is
  18.      not modified in any form without the expressed written
  19.      consent of David D. Turley.  This system is by no means all
  20.      inclusive.  It wasn't designed to be so.  It was designed to
  21.      give an idea of what type of system the user should expect.

  23. WHO MAY USE IT:
  24. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  25.      Any BBS Sysop or BBS List maker may use this system for a
  26.      quick, and standard method for BBS designation.  Once again,
  27.      all that is asked is that it remain un-tampered with, so
  28.      that there will only be one version, and not multiple
  29.      versions.  The right of revision is held by the author,
  30.      David D. Turley, who may make revisions when necessary.

  32. USAGE:

  34.      The code is from 3 to 5 digits in length.  The code consists
  35.      of 3 numerals, followed by anywhere from 0-2 alpha codes.

  53.      0 - No File Area
  54.           No File areas are available on this system.  Uploading
  55.           and Download is not available.
  56.      1 - Downloads Only
  57.           Downloads are available on this system.  Uploads are
  58.           either discouraged or prohibited.
  59.      2 - Downloads & Uploads with Ratios
  60.           Uploads and Downloading are available.  Downloading may
  61.           be restricted because of Upload/Download Ratios or
  62.           other types of Ratios.
  63.      3 - Downloads & Uploads, no Ratios
  64.           Uploads and Downloads are available, generally
  65.           unrestricted.
  66.      4 - Uploads & Downloads & 1 CD-ROM On-Line
  67.           Same as "3", but with 1 CD-ROM Drive on-line.  System
  68.           may use multiple CD's, but only one is available at a
  69.           time.
  70.      5 - Uploads & Downloads & Multiple CD-ROMS On-Line
  71.           Same as "3", but with Multiple CD-ROM Drives on-line.
  72.      6 - Adult File Sections Available
  73.           Sysop has chosen to emphasize his selection of Adult
  74.           Oriented files (GIF, TXT, etc.) as well as Match-Making
  75.           downloads (GIF, TXT, etc.)

  77. MESSAGE CODES:

  79.      0 - No Mail/Message Base
  80.           Board has no message base system available.
  81.      1 - Private Messages Only
  82.           Board has only private messages available.  No public
  83.           message may be left.
  84.      2 - Public & Private Messageing
  85.           Full public and private messageing can be left.
  86.      3 - Metro Net-Mail Only
  87.           Board participates in a Local (city-wide) Net-Mail
  88.           system.  
  89.      4 - National Net-Mail Only
  90.           Board participates in a National (or International)
  91.           Net-Mail system.
  92.      5 - Full Metro & National Net-Mail
  93.           Board participates in both Metro and National Net-Mail
  94.           Systems.
  95.      6 - Adult / Singles Message Bases Available
  96.           Board has an Adult Oriented or Singles Message Bases
  97.           available.  Board may also have Metro or National Net-
  98.           Mail capabilities, but it is not known for sure.

  102.      0 - No Doors Available
  103.           The Sysop has chosen not to run any external doors on
  104.           his BBS.
  105.      1 - Games Only
  106.           This system has only games in the doors section.
  107.      2 - Off-Line Mail Door Only
  108.           This system has only Off-Line Mail doors in his
  109.           external program section.
  110.      3 - Off-Line Mail & Games
  111.           This system has both Off-Line Mail, and (1-9) Games
  112.           available.
  113.      4 - Off-Line Mail & 10-49 Games Available
  114.           This system is similar to Door-Code 3, but has 10-49
  115.           Games available.
  116.      5 - Off-Line Mail & 50+ Games Available
  117.           This system is similar to Door-Code 3, but has 50 or
  118.           more Games Available.
  119.      6 - Adult / Match Making Doors Available
  120.           The Sysop chose to emphasize his Match-Making or Adult
  121.           Oriented doors which are available on their system.

  123. ACCESS CODES:

  125.      *** NOTE ***   If an access code is not listed in a Turley
  126.                     Code, then "A" is assumed.
  127.      A - Free Access
  128.           No charge is required to access most areas of this
  129.           system.  Any TurleyCode without any access code listed
  130.           is assumed to be this type of system.
  131.      B - Private Access Only
  132.           The BBS is primarily private, a small Free Access area
  133.           may exist, but is only a token area.
  134.      C - Paid Access Only
  135.           The BBS is primarily a paid access board, a small Free
  136.           Access area, or even a Test-Drive area may be
  137.           available.
  138.      D - Commercial/Government System, Free Access
  139.           Commercial or Government System, Similar to "A".
  140.      E - Commercial/Government System, Private Access
  141.           Commercial or Government System, Similar to "B".
  142.      F - Commercial/Government System, Paid Access
  143.           Commercial or Government System, Similar to "C".  Many
  144.           nation-wide On-Line services are in this category.

  149.                     usually the discretion of the Sysop.  Valid
  150.                     Modifier Codes are only letters G-Z, with
  151.                     only the following currently defined. 
  152.                     Remember, only ONE Modifier code is to be
  153.                     added.
  154.      G - Gay/Bi/Lesbian Oriented
  155.           Topics may deal with Alternative Lifestyles.
  156.      I - Information Base Oriented
  157.           On-Line encyclopedias, Dictionaries, or other
  158.           Information Bases may be accessible.
  159.      P - Programmer Oriented System
  160.           Topics may deal with Computer Programming issues.
  161.      R - Religious Orientation
  162.           Topics may deal with a particular Religious sect.
  163.      S - Software Distribution and/or Support Board
  164.           This Board may be a Computer Software Distribution
  165.           site, or a Software Support Board.
  166.      T - Technical Oriented System
  167.           This Board may deal with Technical Hardware issues.
  168.      V - Call-Back Verifier
  169.           This system makes use of a Call-Back verifier for
  170.           access.
  171.      X - Adult/Match-Making Oriented
  172.           Topics may deal with Adult Oriented or Match-Making
  173.           material.
